Kassandra Jimenez, representing El Paso Wings and Montwood High in Texas, won the women's 17-18 2,000-meter steeplechase title in 7:22.24 at the USATF National Junior Olympic Track and Field Championships at Hornet Stadium at Sacramento State. Jimenez, entering her senior year, also ran a personal-best 10:40.59 to finish second in the 3,000 final. She also clocked 2:22.72 in the 800 and qualified for the 1,500 final in 4:53.09.
